Why should I learn shorthand? Which language is easy for shorthand English or Hindi?

What is shorthand ?

If you are interested to get a Government/Private Job easily compared  to cut throat competition in other fields, you must learn shorthand. If you are putting this question, you must be aware about shorthand. Although, I would like to mention here that shorthand is a method of writing any dictated matter quickly in shortest form and then transcribing the same again in the preferred language. For example, if you have learnt English Shorthand, then you will have to write any dictation quickly then transcribe the same in English Words (language) and get its print out from the computer.  This is the only job of a stenographer.

Which System of shorthand is popular ?

I love shorthand because, it has given jobs to millions since its inception, that too, with good remuneration. Nowadays, people learn shorthand in various languages. So far as English is concerned, in India, people, mostly learn Pitman Shorthand. Shorthand Material, especially in English, is available in abundance on Internet and Youtube etc. platforms.

Which language may be chosen for shorthand learning?

If you have learned any native language, there are lessor chances of getting a job compared to English as English is spoken in entire India and work of every institution are more or less is in English language. Often vacancies are published for English Stenographer. So If you learned English Shorthand, you have better chances of getting jobs in most of the States in India.  In my entire career, every person, who is serious and preparing English Shorthand, under guidance of a good teacher, has got a government job.

If your aim is to get job in Central Government and your English is good, then English will be the best language for you to learn. However, occasionally, various departments in State also publish vacancy in English. If you are preparing for a State Govt. job.  For example, Uttar Pradesh, then Hindi will better for you because in most of the state govt. jobs they ask mostly for Hindi and other native language like Marathi, Tamil, Punjabi, Gujrati etc. Although English stenographer are also hired in entire country but they are lessor in number but regularly vacancies are published in English by various Government Departments.

Which language will be better to learn shorthand, English, Hindi or any other language?

Typing of English is simpler.  If you are good in Hindi typing or any other native language only then go for it otherwiseit iWs waste of time. In comparison to English, Hindi is difficult to type. So choose wisely and be on your strength. The language (Hindi, English, or any other language) over which you have command and you can type easily, that will be the best option to choose.
